Wednesday, Feb. 9th - Anaerobic Testing!
written by DAR
Short, sweet, and simple: 20 minute testing tomorrow. (Further alliteration with not be forthcoming, however.) The starting gun goes at 6:15 am. Be ready to go by that point.
As warm-up, I would suggest at least 10 minutes of very easy paddling, followed by stretching. Then get some hard strokes in there, perhaps 3 X 10, at increasing rating. Space these out with plenty of steady state, and follow them up with more. If this is an early morning blast, we want to be well warmed by the time we reach the line. No one should try to use the first 5 minutes to get into the groove.
Please fill out the form when you're done. Include total meters for 20 minutes, Total Watts, and Average Split. If you include watts, it makes my life easier.
Let's see where we stand. Have at it.

In trying to formulate a strategy.... Any thoughts/suggestions on how a 20 min split would compare to a 2K split?

Sorry. Class and birthday celebrations kept me from my computer. The general strategy is to go 5-7 seconds above 2k pace. We're looking for average watts, making consistency the name of the game. Start off reasonably conservatively, but by 14 minutes to go, start cranking it down. Have courage, and attack all the way through.

Any parameters as far as rating? I will do my best to complete this on my own this week. We complete 30 minutes for testing. So far I am a 2:01.7 with 7390m. Watts calculator puts it 194.2. Will get you the 20 minutes as soon as I can.

No rules as far as ratings go. Like a head race, keep it as high as is efficient for you.
Thanks for getting the 20 minute score, too. As far as I understand it, this reflects roughly the limit for maximum output at anaerobic threshold. It is also less variable in duration than 6k, which I find better for elite men.

So the header on the watts box is incorrect as to what you are asking for. The reading was our average Watts overall.

Dan, Happy Belated Birthday! Normally you would have received some MW cheer, but we didn't realize your birthday was coming up! :-).
